A Merry Christmas

“Amen.”

In their Father’s name the

explorer priests broke fast,

around a long dead stellar mass.

The researchers found a hidden cache

on a cinder far out from the orbital plane.

Inside were artifacts, artwork and knowledge

from alien minds, but minds all the same.

They had beauty, they had love. They tried to save

some of themselves for those who might come.

The men gathered round- the truth of what

this supernova meant, found:

“This star exploded over 2000 years ago. In the

skies of Earth it bore witness to a manger’s door;

inside, a momentous birth;

but why, oh God, why them?”

“Why this world for the fire burning above

Bethlehem?“
