“Amen.”

In their Father’s name the

explorer priests broke fast

orbiting a long dead stellar mass.

The researchers found a hidden cache

on a world now turned to ash.

Inside were artifacts, artwork and knowledge

from alien minds, but minds all the same.

They had beauty, they had love. They tried to save

some of themselves for those who might come.

The men gathered round – the truth of what

this supernova meant, found:

“This star exploded approximately 2000 years ago.

In the skies of our world it bore witness to a manger’s door

inside, a momentous birth

heralding to all, peace on Earth

but why, oh God, why them?”

“Why this world for the fire burning above

Bethlehem?”
