There wouldn’t have been much to see

just some loose rags and the body shelf
that stone rolled away and the sun shining in.
When the ladies arrived only to be startled by an
unexpected, friendly angel
he said to them,
“Do not be alarmed.
You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified.
He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.”
But even then, they didn’t expect to see Him gone.
Perhaps they didn’t really believe that He was who He said He was.
Maybe they assumed that death, even for sons of God, was a finality.
But there, right there, was the evidence of resurrection.
Imagine how wonderful it must have been to make that realization:
Christ had defeated death.
He had defeated the machinations of men
In order to save them.
