This is the standalone model of the building I designed for the Long Beach Historical Society as part of my LB Civic Center dream project https://thenuminouscosmos.com/2013/12/28/a-new-long-beach-civic-center/
The building would have space for traditional museum displays as well as research areas and a large model of the city, similar to the Panorama of New York city at the Queens Museum of Art http://www.queensmuseum.org/

In contrast to the surrounding buildings in the plan, the LBHS structure would utilize brick as well as reclaimed steel and concrete from the demolition of the old Library.

Into the facade I have incorporated the WPA mural from the demolished Municipal Auditorium, which currently stands next to a parking garage. The interior space is designed to allow for several different configurations from exhibitions to galas.

The cafe offers light dining and coffee/tea service during the day and can be used for catering and other large scale events.
